[18/8] Benefits of co-educational schools

- help to avoid gender discrimination
- friends from opposite sex
- create a conducive environment for learning by encouraging cooperation and interaction
- help to prepare for the future in a mixed society

Have you ever imagined what will it be like to have a boy as your deskmate, buzzing about the latest sports and games beside your ear? Have you ever discussed a Maths problem with a boy, admiring his excellent logical thinking skills? In a mixed school, everything is possible!

In a mixed school, boys and girls study under the same roof. They will discover the unique talents and abilities of the opposite sex and learn to appreciate each other. This helps to shape their characters and improve their academic performances. During co-curricular activities and project works, a group of boys and girls is likely to come up with more creative ideas due to different ways of thinking. The group discussion can thus be more productive and effective compared to a group of girls or boys only. In addition, researches have shown that the motivation to perform well and to prove yourself is stronger when you are with the opposite sex, making them more engaged in their works.

Interaction helps to wipe away discrimination and misconceptions about the opposite sex. Students can learn to deal with relationships and social issues they may face in the mixed society. This prepares them better for their future, where co-working is inevitable.

  1. The points are good and well elaborated, but I feel it would be better if there were some stronger words to convince people why co-ed schools are definitely better.

  3. More like an argumentive essay. The sentences are well structured but lack of emotional words. Maybe you can write "come and join a mixed school" or something like that...

  6. Para 1:
Your point towards the end was abt how working together, they can produce better outcome. But one can argue that it is possible with a group of girls too. You could have stressed on how differently each gender works and thus produces a good mix in the quality of work.

  7. very nicely explained.but maybe you could use a few more emotive words to engage the audience in the speech like 'you and I,we are living in a mixed world,so why should our schools, which are meant to prepare us for iy,be any different?'...something like that i guess.
