Teenage pregnancy on the rise: how can we tackle it?

Content points:

- Hold talks in schools on the consequences of teenage pregnancy
- Counsellor to come during alternate legacy periods to raise awareness through media(e.g. abortion videos) and activities
(groupwork on choices to make etc)
- Put up posters/advertisments to educate public on consequences.
(ref to dengue adverts on buses)
- Set up helplines/centres who suspect that they are victims of sexual abuse.

Teenagers. Who are these people whom we classify as our "future successors"?
These people are still youths who have yet to reach adulthood, those who are easily influenced by their peers, those who still need to be taken under our wings.
These are the "vulnerables"! These are the people who will determine the future of the world.

Together, hand in hand, we will help them.

Fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, anybody who is related to the teens.
Let's guide them to the right path, let's show them the light.
let's ensure that our innocent descendants do not destroy their future in their early stages of life.

encourage counsellor can come during alternate legacy periods to raise awareness. This can be in the form of media such as abortion videos to instill fear in students about the consequences of teenage pregnancy and to prevent teenage pregnancy rates from rising any further. Next, the counsellor can also have activities such as groupwork to discuss on how to deal with the root cause of teenage pregnancy.

Health Promotion Board can put up posters or advertisments to raise awareness of the rising teenage pregnancy rates in singapore. These posters should create an impact on the public by containing horrific pictures and facts (like the dengue advertisements) and be put up at common hangouts for youths(such as shopping centres and bus stops).
In putting up the posters, the teenagers might be frightened by the consequences shown, and so they would be discouraged from taking part in these "activities".

Together, hand in hand, let's prevent these poor teeagers from destroying their lives before they reach adulthood!

  1. Not all the schools in Singapore has the "legacy" period like TKGS. Therefore, there is a need to explain what is the purpose of the legacy project.

  2. Make it more formal, does not really sound like a speech.

  3. Not only should we try and prevent teenage pregnancy rates from increasing, we should also try to reduce the number of cases..

  4. should fear be instilled in teenagers so as to prevent the rate of teenage pregnancy from rising? I do not think so. Raising awareness of the consequences increases the knowledge of teenagers about the consequences rather than scaring them. This enables them to think before they do anything that will lead them to such consequences.

  5. the entry does not really sound like a speech. it seems more like a report or a predentation. so, you should use words such as "we", "as a country" to address the audience more. throw in some of your opinions.

  6. your solutions are well explained in the process of carrying it out .but how will it solve the problems?what is the problem?when you explain which solution works for which prolblem it tends to have deeper impression on the audience that the speaker knows what she talks about and that we should believe her.

  7. I think the suggestions you came up as solutions are too little. There are more ways in which we can tackle teenage pregnancy

  8. I think it doesnt really sound like a speech. It's more of suggestions than elaboration of points.
