-A positive outlook on life.
-Being determined to strive on.
-Know that failures and success comes hand in hand.
-Making people around you optimistic.
Setting: Botanical Gardens - Open stage
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” This was a famous quote by Winston Churchill who saw Europe through World War II. Let me read you another quote by Oscar Wilde;“Between the optimist and the pessimist, the difference is droll. The optimist sees the doughnut; the pessimist the hole!”
Any average person would look at a failure as a failure and not as a learning point. On the contrary, an optimistic person would look at a failure as a learning point. That is the way to success. Having a positive outlook on your life helps you to conquer the ups and downs on your path towards success. Its good to know that success and failures come hand in hand.
An optimistic person would look at a glass of water being half full, rather than half empty. In today's financial crisis, making your way out of that crunch is only optimism. Be optimistic. And you'll see the world in a better light. Be optimistic. And you'll see that success comes to you. Be optimistic. And you'll find that your friends will be optimistic too.
Think about anyone around you who is affirmative. For me, its Ratana. She's my classmate in Secondary Three. Her single smile will lighten up even the most tense situation. Her optimism is infectious. I feel optimistic when I'm around her too. Be optimistic. And you'll be like Ratana too.

Good use of analogies; the glass of water. I think it might be better if you used the point 'know that failures and successes come hand in hand'.
ReplyDeletethe repetition at the second paragraph is very persuasive and encourage people to be more optimistic
ReplyDeletePoints are well expressed.Good use of emotive words but can use more.
ReplyDeleteI like your repetition (: and the way you guys structure your speech so as to move the audience in becoming more optimistic (:
ReplyDeletevery well written./.. quoting of an example was really good. =)
ReplyDeletebut can replace the word point by may be juncture.. and i suppose one can have a positive outlook TO ones life not ON.
i m not so sure though =P
i love the second paragraph.its very expressive.and it is very gud that you used a real person as an example to make it look more personal!!nice work!
ReplyDeletePeople who hear the speech may not know who Ratana is. You might want to elaborate more on her or not use specific names.
ReplyDeleteGood examples of financial crisis and your own experience~
ReplyDeleteI think using examples like Ratana is a good idea and gives the audience a greater idea on what message you are trying to relay. However, I think that the examples given should be more broad and not in such a personal way
ReplyDeletegood usage of your own experience, the speech is therefore more convincing
ReplyDeletegood comparison and elaboration. Well done ^^
ReplyDeleteANONYMOUS! Even though madhu and i dont know who you are, but its really nice of you to make a useful comment on our speech. But according to Mrs taufik, its "on one's life" not "to one's life".
ReplyDeleteNo hard feelings!
love Madhu and Tracy.
